Hosts
Nick
He/Him/His Nick works as a receptionist in Cambridge, MA and has been living in Boston since 2018. He began watching the Great British Baking Show back in 2017 when he binged the entire thing in two days. Nick has always loved baking and even had a baking themed birthday party, shown above. Originally from Northern Mass, baking with his family has been a constant in his life. With a penchant for sweets, Bake Off provided him the motivation to try his more adult hand at creating delicious treats at home. |
Malory
He/Him/His Malory works as a Restaurant Sustainability Consultant in Boston, MA. He is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and moved out to Boston in early 2019. In recent years his mother and grandma have passed on the responsibility of making the Thanksgiving pie crusts to him. He considers this his crowning baking achievement. Malory is excited to use HOTBO as an excuse to try out of the flavor combinations he's been dreaming up since first discovering the Great British Bake Off. |
How it all started
Nick and Malory met while playing board games at the local Queer Boston Board Gamer meetup and soon became close friends in a large group of awesome, queer folks. When Nick approached Malory with the idea to make a podcast all about food, baking, and the Great British Baking Show, he said yes! We wanted to make a show about baking that was more than just fan cast or play-by-play of the show. We wanted to explore more of what makes a good amateur baker, wanted to push ourselves to bake more and improve our skills, and wanted to inspire others to bake along with us. Every year 12 bakers go through an amazing journey in that tent - it's time we did too. We plan for this podcast to grow and change - exploring new ideas and covering new topics. Maybe in the future we'll bring on guests or cover other baking shows and phenomena, but until then, this is a podcast about our loves and we hope you will join us for it.
